From June 9 to 10, the 2024 Yunnan Provincial Third Campus Dragon and Lion Dance Championship was held in the Qilin District of Qujing City, Yunnan Province. YUFE’s Dragon and Lion Dance Team participated for the first time and achieved commendable results, winning second and third prizes in the “University Mixed Group Dragon Dance Optional Routine” category, and the team was honored with the Sportsmanship Award.
Our Dragon and Lion Dance Team was led by Deputy Director of the Department of Sports Mao Ruihong, with Yang Haomin serving as the head coach. The team consisted of 28 athletes from various colleges within the university. Since its establishment, the team has actively engaged in training and preparation activities. Through rigorous training and continuous coordination among team members, the preparation tasks were effectively implemented, and the training progress was efficiently advanced. The team members quickly mastered dragon dance techniques and skillfully applied them, creating a unique dragon dance routine.
On June 9, Yang Haomin led the entire Dragon and Lion Dance Team to compete in the Qilin District of Qujing City. Although the opening ceremony and registration took place under persistent rain, the weather turned favorable with clear skies during the official competition. Our Dragon and Lion Dance Team quickly entered the competition mode. During the event, our team’s spectacular dragon dance performance showcased various professional movements such as the “Rising and Falling Dragon”, “Fast Swimming Dragon”, “Large Horizontal Figure Eight”, “Slow Progress”, “Large Upright Spiral”, “Low Step Circular Obstacle Crossing”, and “Head-Tail Through Body”. The dragon’s body coiled and soared, meandered and moved vividly, earning thunderous applause and ultimately achieving excellent results.
