On July 19, the championship competition and closing ceremony for the 2024 China International College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition (Yunnan Division) were held at Yunnan Minzu University. During the closing ceremony, a flag handover ceremony took place, where Wang Min, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Yunnan University of Finance and Economics, accepted the flag on behalf of the university, officially announcing that YUFE will host the 2025 China International College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition (Yunnan Division).

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Wang Yunfei, Director and Party Secretary of the Provincial Department of Education and Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Education Work Committee; Dai Youkun, Level II Inspector of the Provincial United Front Work Department; Zhang Jihong, Level II Inspector of the Provincial Department of Science and Technology; and officials from the Provincial Cyberspace Administration and Development and Reform Commission. YUFE was represented by Yu Nutao, a member of the Party Committee and Vice President, as well as Yan Ming.

Since its inception in 2015, the competition has grown in both scale and quality year by year. On August 15, 2017, General Secretary Xi Jinping wrote a letter to college students participating in the “Youth Red Dream Journey” event of the competition, greatly inspiring young students to innovate and start their businesses at the grassroots level. As of this year, the competition has attracted over 15 million teams and 56.92 million college students from more than 150 countries and regions worldwide, becoming an innovative and entrepreneurial educational platform for “hundreds of countries, thousands of schools, and millions of people”. It is a vital initiative for fulfilling the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education in higher education and has evolved into a global event for college students to realize their entrepreneurial dreams, promoting a new perspective on talent cultivation and quality.

Yunnan University of Finance and Economics, recognized as one of the first batch of “Demonstration Universities for Deepening Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Reform” in the country, has always placed a high emphasis on innovation and entrepreneurship among college students. The university has been honored as a “National University with Typical Experience in Innovation and Entrepreneurship” and a “Demonstration Institution for Deepening Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Reform among National Financial Institutions”.

The university will closely align its efforts with the important directives put forth by General Secretary Xi Jinping regarding the “three positions” he proposed for Yunnan. Upholding the essence of education, the university will adhere to the principles of promoting learning, teaching, and innovation through competition. With the collective effort of the entire university, we aim to transform the competition into a significant platform for advancing innovation and entrepreneurship education reform in higher education and a showcase for the achievements of educational reform in the new era. We are committed to hosting the 2025 China International College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition (Yunnan Division) to the highest standards.

At the closing ceremony, the Yunnan Division of the China International College Students’ Innovation Competition (2024) concluded successfully with a dance performance titled “Encounter with Youth”, presented by students from Yunnan University of Finance and Economics.
