In a groundbreaking achievement, YUFE’s Sambo team has made a historic breakthrough at the 2nd Chinese University Sambo Championship, securing its first-ever championship title. The event took place from July 10th to 15th at the Jilin Police College in Changchun, Jilin Province. Led by Zhu Youzhong, the Party Branch Secretary of YUFE’s Physical Education Department, and coached by Zhang Xing, the team comprised Zhang Qidi from the School of Communication and Design Arts, Dong Lirui from the School of Law and Political Science, and Zhang Shenyun from the Business School. Through fierce competition, they achieved outstanding results, including two gold medals, one silver medal, and the first place in the women’s combat Sambo team category, marking a zero breakthrough in championship titles.
Zhang Qidi won the national championship in the Women’s -59kg category under Group A, while Zhang Shenyun claimed the national championship in the Men’s -58kg category under Group A. Dong Lirui secured the national runner-up position in the Men’s -59kg category under Group A.
As the leading institution of the Judo Professional Committee of Yunnan Province Student Sports Association, our university has been dedicated to promoting judo in schools at all levels throughout Yunnan, as well as conducting training programs for coaches and referees. Moving forward, the university will intensify its efforts to advance the organization of the Yunnan Campus Judo Championship, contributing to the development of sports in Yunnan.
