Recently, the Ministry of Education announced the 2024 Humanities and Social Sciences Research Projects. Our university has secured approval for 18 projects, including 3 Planned Fund Projects, 7 Young Scholars Fund Projects, and 8 Western Region Projects. This total number of approved projects marks our university’s best historical performance, ranking 26th among national universities and first in the province for two consecutive years, demonstrating our research strength in humanities and social sciences.
The approved projects span various disciplines: 6 in Management, 3 in Economics, 2 in Ethnology and Cultural Studies, 5 in Interdisciplinary/Comprehensive Research, 1 in Art Studies, and 1 in Linguistics. In terms of college distribution, the School of Logistics and Management Engineering leads with 4 projects, followed by the School of International Languages and Cultures, Business School, and International Business School with 2 projects each. The School of Public Finance and Management, School of Media and Design Arts, School of Tourism and Hotel Management, Research Institute of Tourism and Cultural Industry, Accounting/Auditing School, School of Finance, School of Statistics and Mathematics, and Institute of Intelligent Applications each secured 1 project.
The Ministry of Education’s Humanities and Social Sciences Research Program is a high-level initiative open to all regular higher education institutions nationwide. With its broad coverage and significant influence, it plays a crucial role in demonstrating and guiding the development of philosophy and social sciences with Chinese characteristics. To enhance the quality of project applications, the Division of Science & Technology Administration worked closely with various schools, implementing advanced planning, meticulous management, and precise services. They coordinated project application management, provided personalized application consulting, fostered a strong research atmosphere, and stimulated faculty research motivation.
Moving forward, the university will further organize research efforts, strengthen the whole-process management of ongoing projects, continuously optimize and integrate research resources around disciplinary directions, produce high-quality research outcomes, promote the transformation and application of results, and push for new breakthroughs in landmark scientific research achievements.
